The Museo di Arte Contemporanea e del Novecento (Contemporary and 1900s Art Museum) in Monsummano Terme is hosted inside Villa Renatico Martini.
The museum hosts a permanent nucleus of painting, graphic, and sculpture works by local artists (“Il Renatico” Public Collection) and periodically organises temporary exhibitions and events.
Among the works exhibited in the Museum, there are the ones by Pietro Annigoni, Vinicio Berti, Ferdinando Chevrier, Lamberto Pignotti, Eugenio Miccini, and Ketty La Rocca.
Since 1988, Villa Renatico Martini has been hosting various types of cultural exhibitions organised by the Municipality of Monsummano Terme, in collaboration with important cultural institutes.
Since 2000 the Villa has become seat of the Museo di Arte Contemporanea e del Novecento (Contemporary and 1900s Art Museum), and exhibition place for contemporary art exhibitions, conferences and study seminars, chamber music concerts, and outdoor cinema and theatre during the summer season.
The Museum reopened in 2005, after adjustment to the museum standards required by Tuscany Region.
The works allowed reorganising the internal spaces, adapting them to the needs of the museum with the realisation of air conditioning, fire fighting, and alarm systems.
