Another important target achieved for the public museums of Monsummano Terme, the Museo della Città e del Territorio (Museum of the City and Territory) and Museo di arte contemporanea e del Novecento (Contemporary and 1900s Art Museum).
In fact, the two museums have obtained the qualification of "Important Regional Museums" from Tuscany Region in accordance with Regional Law no. 21 of 25 February 2010.
Sixty-four applications were presented, of which only twenty-eight led to the important recognition and, two of which are public museums of Monsummano.
The qualification of important regional museum implies the possession of requirements in line with the latest standard in matter, such as complete accessibility and usability of the structures, therefore, their modification and conformity with the standards in force regarding both safety and accessibility. Another significant element is the use destination of the structure and presence of a scientific direction apart from an organisational regulation that ensures adequate opening hours, promotion of informative and educational aids, and organisation of education activities aimed at schools and different types of public. Lastly, also the study and analysis activities of the users were determinant.
Therefore, the constant commitment of the Monsummano Terme Municipality was recognised, and specifically the one of the Culture Department that has always supported public museums, making them meeting place and personal and collective development vehicles at educational and economic and touristic level.
